Climbing the IR Career Ladder – How Did I Get Here and Where am I Going?

Time: 5:30 – 8:30 PM

Location:
Boston Marriott Newton Hotel
2345 Commonwealth Avenue
Newton, MA 02466

One of the unique aspects of the investor relations profession is that its practitioners come from a wide diversity of backgrounds, including finance, research, communications and program management. Further, the responsibilities of IR professionals typically require engagement across and contributions to a broad array of disciplines within an organization. As such, some view IR as a stepping stone to senior roles in other disciplines with the goal of ultimately moving to the C-suite; others decide to remain on the IR ladder for their full career. Come hear from two seasoned IROs and an accomplished executive recruiter as we discuss career management for IR professionals. Our panelists will discuss how to navigate your career within – and potentially beyond – IR.

Panelists:

-Anthony Takazawa, Vice President, Investor Relations and Corporate Communications, Acushnet Holdings Corp.

-Matt Osborne, Head of Investors Relations and Corporate Communications, Voyager Therapeutics, Inc.

-Smooch Reynolds, Executive Vice President, Global Investor Relations and Communications Practice Leader, DHR International

Moderator:

-Sarah Carmody, Director, Investor Relations & Corporate Communications, Momenta Pharmaceuticals

Location:

On March 29, NIRI Boston will welcome Peter Howe for a report from the media trenches. Peter is a 30-year media veteran who has served as a Boston Globe reporter and editor as well as a New England Cable News business editor and CEO Corner host. During this fireside chat, you will hear his perspective about the ongoing evolution in print, digital and social media, insights into “fake news” and why so many people now claim not to trust the media, and advice about how to fight for the public’s attention and how to navigate the minefield during times of crisis.

Prior to this, NIRI Boston will be hosting a “Sponsorpalooza” showcase, which will allow attendees to interact tradeshow style with the chapter’s valued chapter sponsors over complimentary cocktails. As an added incentive, all IR practitioners arriving at the event before 6:00 p.m. will be eligible for some great raffle prizes. Bring your business cards and be sure to visit all the tables to be entered for the giveaways — don’t miss out!
